Oscar Morawetz' Overture "Carnival" was an old acquaintance which is the exception in a work so young. In making his skill and charm so accessible and useful as a curtain-raiser, Mr. M. is rendering a service to all, including himself because it will facilitate the reception of more ambitious work which will undoubtedly come before us soon.
