A DELIGHTFUL EVENT: Montreal's music minded Gerhard Stahlberg
(who plays the piano) and his equally musical wife (who is a violinist) were
hosts at a reception in their home following a recent Montreal Symphony concert.
Guests of honor were the soloists, Anita Valkki, dramatic soprano and Pianist
Anton Kuerti; Zubin Mehta, Award-winning composer Oskar Morawetz and quite a few
members of the MSO. I thought it would be too late to attend after writing the
review but during intermission at the concert I happened to see the Stahlbergs,
who insisted I come even if late. I arrived and I was glad to meet the artists.
Upon meeting Oskar Morawetz, I recalled having met him at a reception following
the recital given by Jan Rubes for the Notre Dame de Grace Community Concerts
and he remembered too and said "That was in 1952".
