A caring composer is worrying a new concerto to performance

[...] Guelph Spring Festival [begins] with a gala symphony concert featuring not only Boris Brott conducting the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra but [...] the world premiere of a harp concerto by Toronto composer Oskar Morawetz.

[...] But before setting notes on paper he did spend long hours consulting with harpist Erica Goodman, who will premiere his concerto, to learn the various techniques available to the celestial instrument.

Goodman is reportedly enthusiastic about the results. Performers often are with Morawetz' music. Conductors of the stature of Zubin Mehta, Karel Ancerl, Sir Adrian Boult and William Steinberg have championed it, as have pianist Glenn Gould and tenor Jon Vickers.
