Morawetz's atonal setting is sometimes spare, sometimes dense and his orchestra
is a ceaseless commentator, ranging freely through the sections for a telling
and original color, [...]
The vocal part was taken by the magnificient Judith Forst, who
absolutely commanded the music, both technically - the powefully
long lines and their reach into the extremes of range - and
emotionally. The VSO's playing under Kazuyoshi Akiyama was apposite,
a credit to the music.
