Music by Morawetz noble, beautiful and very moving
[...]
Canadian composer Oskar Morawetz' From the Diary of Anne
Frank is one of his most disciplined and sheerly beautiful scores. Here
Judith Forst, who sings with greater assurance and involvement on every
appearance, sang Morawetz' lyrical setting. The orchestra used in the piece is
large but so sensitively deployed that the singer's every word was easily heard
above the accompaniment. Excepting only the In Memoriam Martin Luther King,
Morawetz has written nothing more noble or moving.
