[...]The world premiere of Fantasy 1973, especially written for the Fall
Festival by Oscar Morawetz proved to be a short work in the modern vein although
not of the ultra far out antiphonal variety much in style today.
The work begins with a gloomy, almost foreboding introduction then into a
ripping lyrical middle section with an abrupt slashing finale.
Although reading from the score (assisted by local pianist Barbara Severin)
Taussig appeared to have little trouble with what was obviously a demanding
work.
The fantasy was well accepted by the audience who accorded it several minutes
of applause.
