Five Biblical Songs
By the Rivers of Babylon - God our Lord We Sing Happy Songs to Thee - Hear Me God When I Pray to Thee - Come and Praise Our Lord - God the Lord is My Shepherd

By the Rivers of Babylon
(From Psalm 137)

By the still rivers of Babylon we sat down and wept,
with our tears remembering Thee Zion.
Sadly we hung our harps on the branches of the high willow trees;
and they who had carried us away with them and made us prisoners
in our distress they said, mocking our fate;
"Sing for us now a joyful song of Zion!"
Sadly we replied then:
"How could we sing joyful songs for you, songs of God and our Lord,
captive in a strange land?"
O should I forget Thee Jerusalem,
then let my right hand also forget all her cunning.

God our Lord We Sing Happy Songs to Thee

God our Lord we sing happy songs to Thee,
new songs of Thy glory, joyful songs,
Sing to God happy songs, praise His glory;
Praise all His greatness and His miracles.
Bring to Him your joyful verses and let the earth be glad.
Glad and joyful shall we sing our praise to Thee, glorious God our Lord.
Let the seas roar and all that it holds,
let all its creatures join us in our gladness; let them all rejoice.
Let all rivers now clap their hands and let all the mountains sing
and praise our Lord!
All mountain, hills and rivers, woodlands and meadows clap their hands, praising God our Lord.
Let all fields sing aloud together;
lakes and all forests, be ye joyful before our Lord.
Let us sing together, forests, lakes and meadows,
praising our God and Father, praising Him.
Praise!

Hear Me God When I Pray to Thee
(From Psalm 55)

Hear me God! Hear my cry!
Hear me, O God, when I pray to Thee.
and hide not Thyself from me and my cry.
Turn to me and answer me,
see my trembling heart and how it suffers;
O help me, my God!
Weak from fear is my body and thoughts of death fill my troubled mind
and horror dominates my soul.
And I said: "O if I had wings like a silver dove.
far away would I fly to find some rest.
O far away would I stay, and live in the wilderness.
I would escape and hide myself from raging storms and tempest."

Come and Praise Our Lord
(From Psalm 144)

Come and Praise Our Lord, holy in all His works,
come and praise Him forever!
God, O God, new songs of gladness and Thy glory shall I play for Thee
and I shall bless Thy name for evermore.
And every day I shall thank Thee, Lord, for Thy mercy and Thy loving care
and extol Thy great name forever.
God is gracious and always forgiving,
helping all people who trust in His goodness and His great kingdom.
Our songs will bless Thy holiness and all Thy wondrous acts.
Thou art near to all men in need, weak and forgotten;
And they will bring their songs and prayers to Thy holy throne in heaven,
they will sing and extol Thy great name to all the world.

God the Lord is My Shepherd
(From Psalm 23)

God the Lord is my shepherd, therefore I have nothing to fear;
He feeds me on the green meadows and to peaceful waters brings me.
He restores hope to my soul,
in the path of righteousness He leadeth me.
When I shall have to walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I shall not fear evil for Thou art with me.
And Thy rod and Thy staff they shall always comfort me.
