Guy Fouquet [played] the big solo role in [Morawetz'] Memorial to Martin
Luther King, a work commissioned 17 years ago by Rostropovich. It's unlikely
Morawetz has ever heard the score played better.
It is scored for woodwinds, brass, and a large percussion section so that the
very moving lament from the cello is the only string sound to be heard. Fouquet
handled it most effectively, and he received solid support from Herbig and his
fellow musicians.
