This lively and rhythmically sparkling piece was commissioned in 1953 by the Canadian League of Composers to be included in the album of 14 short pieces by Canadian composers issued by the publishing firm Frederick Harris. It was included later in the Grade IX book of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto. It also became a special favourite of the well-known pianist Boris Roubakine who performed it many times.
