From the aspect of novelty the program of the Little Symphony under George Schick's direction at the Hermitage last night must be looked upon as being among the most consistently interesting it has yet offered. Of the seven items on the program, no less than three were given for the first time in Montreal, one of them a significant North American premiere.

Oscar Morawetz, the gifted Czech composer who has made Canada his home, came from Toronto to attend the performance of his Serenade for Strings, the second of his orchestral works to be given here (an overture was performed by Les Concerts Symphoniques).

Mr. Moravetz [sic] took a deserved bow from the audience for his music. It is the music of a man who would seem to be able to convey an innate joy of life to others by means of sound. The piece has vigor and rhythmic and melodic life. Moreover Mr. Moravetz [sic] makes use of his string orchestra to the fullest extent in the way of color and independence of parts.
