Much to the displeasure of his disapproving father, Richard Morawetz loved acting and the theatre in general. He started acted secretly in many plays during his high school years, and continued on in his twenties and beyond. He enjoyed in particular doing comedies. After a number of years of acting, he also directed some plays.
While Richard was a very good actor, his young wife had no such talent. His son, John, recalls a story where Frida was convinced to act in one play with her husband. In one scene, Richard shoots Frida, and one of the maids stood up in the audience, horrified, and cried out: "My god! He killed her!"
