Morawetz passed away peacefully in his sleep in the evening of June 13, 2007.

A private, Jewish funeral for family and close friends took place on Sunday, June 17
at the Holy Blosson Temple, as per Morawetz' wishes, and was presided over by
Rabbi Goldfarb and Cantor Maissner. Morawetz is buried next to his father in the
Beth Tzedec Memorial Park cemetary. A shiva candle burned in his daughter's house for the week
following the funeral.

On Thursday, June 28, a Memorial Concert was held in Walter Hall in the Faculty of Music, followed by a reception in the lobby. The following is the program from the concert:
