Zubin Mehta awarded Morawetz' Piano Concerto No. 1 first prize in
a nation-wide competition, and then premièred the work with the Montreal
Symphony, with pianist Anton Kuerti as soloist.
Walter Susskind conducted the Toronto Symphony in 1965 and the St. Louis
Symphony Orchestra in 1969 in performances of this concerto.
