Humoresque in G-flat

While preparing to write the transcription of Dvořák's Humoresque, Morawetz consulted several sources and found that there were slight differences in the way Dvořák originally wrote the work, and how it has come to be played in the years since.

In particular, Morawetz found that Fritz Kreisler did not play any grace notes, and Jascha Heifetz played the grace notes only in the 2nd bar of the melody. Furthermore, Dvořák introduced a slight variation to the melody in bar 6, which neither Kreisler nor Heifetz followed.

The following document illustrates Morawetz' analysis of the differences:

Morawetz' comparision of Kreisler, Heifetz and original Dvořák

In Morawetz' transcription of the work, he decided to use the version as originally written by Dvořák.
