one of the most prolific but also as one of the least reticent about

CBC and premiered in the MacMillan Theatre last night, is thus a typical
Morawetz piece.

There are passages wherein the texture lightens to expose plaintive melodies in
the woodwinds and hymnlike passage for muted strings and brass. It is as if the
composer's initial reaction of anger gives way to sorrow and the hope of
redemption. But the predominant mood remains tragic, sometimes stormily so.
