Home is Broken Into, Canada 'Still Okay'
Mere Nothing Compared to Robbery by Nazis. Czech
Refugee Thinks
Thieves broke into the home of Richard Morawetz, refugee from Czechslovakia, last night, stealing a $3,000 fur coat and four watches which he valued at more than $600.
"It wasn't nice to come and find all the house turned up, but that will never change our opinion of Canada," said Mr. Morawetz. "How could we think very much of that when we had stolen from us our jute and flax factory, which employed 1,500 people, when the Germans invaded Bohemia?"
Mr. Morawetz and his family have been in Canada about six months, arriving in Toronto Christmas day.
"The people in Canada have been wonderful to us," he said "We still have
relatives in Czechoslovakia and we have to be careful what we say."
Mr. Morawetz's father, whose seized jute and flax mills are now turning out war material for the Nazis, has started business anew in Canada and bought a partnership in an overall company.
