Congratulations to Professor OSKAR MORAWETZ and Miss RUTH SHIPMAN on their
marriage on June 7th. 1958 seems to be a very auspicious year for the young
composer as he has just signed contracts with two internationally known
publishing houses, Boosey and Hawkes and Ricordi. The former are publishing his
"Overture to a Fairy Tale" for full orchestra and also his "Scherzo" for piano.
The Ricordi Company are publishing his "Divertimento for Strings" which was
premiered in Stratford in 1955 and Miss Lois Marshall and Mr. Weldon Kilburn
plan to include on their European tour in the fall his song cycle "Sonnets from
the Portuguese".
His bride is also well known in musical circles as she was the accompanist to
the late singer and teacher Emmy Heim and has also been invited for three
successive season by the School of Fine Arts in Banff to play for the classes of
Dr. Vinci as well as the operatic events.
