Told Duty To Learn English

A group of newly naturalized citizens was urged last night "to be every inch Canadian," The appeal was made by 78 year old Richard Morawetz, a naturalized Canadian who came here 19 years ago from Czechoslovakia.

"It is one of our foremost obligations to learn the English language to the limit of our capability," he said.

Mr. Morawetz, who was a close friend of the late Thomas Masaryk, founder of the Czechoslovak republic, said many Canadians take for granted the wonderful blessings which they are enjoying; democracy and freedom. He said he would like to issue an appeal to all Canadians both native-born and naturalized "to never stop appreciating the freedom which we are priviledged to enjoy here, and to preserve it always."
