Morawetz evening offers well-earned musical tributes
Oskar Morawetz, the Czech-born Toronto composer, has gained a lot of friends and admirers in the 42 years since he came to Canada, particularly during his nearly
quarter of a century as professor of composition at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. Nearly 500 of his fans paid tribute to him Saturday night at Walter Hall, Edward Johnson Building, where the Faculty presented a program of his music to celebrate his approaching 65th birthday and to voice their regret that he would be retiring at the end of this school year.
